dégage une odeur musquée au froissement.
Écologie : (répartition d'après la flore) Rochers calcaires et vieux murs, dans les montagnes et et là dans les plaines d'une grande partie de la France.
Répartition hors de France : Europe centrale et boréale ; Asie occidentale.

Ecology UK: (distribution according to flora) grows on limestone screes and rocks, but not commonly, in the calcareous districts of England, Perthshire and a few places in Ireland.

Feuilles : fermes, un peu coriaces, d'un vert terne, à pétiole faiblement écailleux, aussi long ou plus long que le limbe; celui-ci nettement triangulaire, tripennatiséqué, à segments inférieurs pétiolés et plus profondément pennatiséqués ; rachis et pétioles secondaires, finement pubescents-glanduleux;

Leaves: Fronds rather firm, dark green 10-40cm long, few, triangular-deltoid in outline, the length greater than the width of the base, bipinnately divided, the lowest pinnae with deeply-divided lobes; lobes or pinnules oblong, almost entire, glabrous; rachis without scales, green, glandular, bare portion about equal to the leafy part.

Spores : sores [arrondies, sans indusie] confluents à la maturité.
